A woman has died after being pulled unconscious from the water onto the rocks between Clovelly and Gordons Bay this afternoon. NSW Surf Life Saving say three young girls, none older than 15-years-old, pulled the woman from water after spotting her floating unconscious, and commenced CPR in an attempt to save her life.

NSW Surf Life Saving State Operations Centre was alerted to the incident at 1.40pm, and sent surf life savers to the scene. The life savers reportedly had to access the scene of the incident via jet ski due to the rocky location where the woman had been dragged from the water.

Duty officer says location proved difficult to navigate

“Three young girls pulled her in, no more than 15 years old, and they did a fantastic job under the circumstances,” Sydney Branch Duty Officer, Ben Hennan said.

Hennan said the location was tricky to access via foot due to being half-way between access points from Clovelly or Gordons Bay. Life savers engaged in CPR on the woman for 30 minutes.

“When NSW Ambulance arrived they utilised the Lucas Device on the patient but unfortunately she was declared deceased on scene.”

NSW Surf Life Saving reports that this marks the eighth coastal drowning of the summer. They urge swimmers to always swim between the yellow and red flags, and be well informed on beach and water safety.
