Set in the hills of West Hollywood this restaurant serves up delicious treats in a space which acts as the perfect escape from the concrete jungle of Los Angeles, USA.

At 1 Kitchen, Executive Chef Ginger Pierce serves up fresh, local, and sustainably sourced farm-to-table Southern California cuisine. Chef Pierce has a passion for ingredient driven cuisine celebrating local, seasonal produce & farms. During my time in Los Angles recently Piece treated me to her fresh & tasty Gilled Fish Tacos whilst my dining partner went for the incredibly healthy Impossible Burger.

Main Course

The Grilled Fish Tacos were loaded with flavour from the spice rub on the fish, the fresh salsa, abundant avocado slices & a squeeze of fresh lime. Even if you are not a seafood fan I would still highly recommend these tacos as the spice rub & salsa were the stars with just a subtle fish flavour coming through from the firm white fish used – you may even mistake these for chicken tenders the spice rub was just that moorish.

Across the table my partner enjoyed the Impossible Burger which was a chickpea burger with a spicy homemade ketchup. Again this meal was packed with flavour, although you certainly wouldn’t be tricked into thinking this was a traditional beef burger.

Dessert

Both meals were incredibly filling but once we saw the dessert menu & the amazing looking in-house made pastries & cookies we suddenly found room for dessert. We each shared in half of a Dark Chocolate Tahini Brownie and half of a Chocolate Chip Cookie.

In regards to the Brownie, half is certainly all you will need thanks to its richness. This non-bake brownie is moist absolutely delicious but incredibly rich, so proceed with caution on this one. If your sweet tooth is a little more sensitive perhaps look towards the Chocolate Chip Cookie, which was a little less rich but certainly didn’t skimp on the chocolate chips.

Decor

Eating all of this delicious food in the earthy, natural wood & quiet surrounds of 1 Kitchen was a true delight. The restaurant is open & breezy with an abundance of natural materials & natural edge woods – all of which contribute to a relaxing atmosphere that acts as the perfect escape from hustle & bustle of the city.

Any Australian tourists visiting Los Angeles or Hollywood for vacation should put 1 Kitchen on the agenda for lunch or dinner during their trip.
