Randwick has celebrated the Easter long weekend with an array of events to bring the community together.

From Thursday until Monday, Malabar’s Pioneers Park played host to a range of food trucks serving street food for attendees. Food trucks served street food including pizza, doughnuts and crepes, with locals encouraged to support local businesses by planning a picnic at the park.

On Easter Sunday, Kokoda Park in Kensington held a family Easter egg hunt, with live music also played throughout the morning.

Randwick’s Anzac Day Dawn Service returns without COVID restrictions

The Easter festivities come one week before Anzac Day, with a full-scale Coogee Dawn Service set to return after two years of COVID interruptions.

The Dawn Service will begin at 5:30am by Coogee Beach next Monday (25 April), with no tickets required and up to 3,000 seats provided on a first-come, first-served basis. Gates will open from 5:00am and the service will also be live-streamed on Randwick Council’s Facebook page.

Later in the morning, current serving members and veterans will participate in an Anzac Day march from the Coogee Diggers to Coogee Beach.

Those who attend the Dawn Service are encouraged to stay to watch the march. There will also be Anzac Day events in Malabar, Kensington and Maroubra.

The New South Wales Anzac Day Dawn Service will be held at The Cenotaph in Martin Place from 4:30am, with tickets not required for this year’s event and public viewing areas open until capacity is reached.

Later in the morning, there will be an Anzac Day march along Elizabeth Street.
