HISTORY OF GALERIE POMPOM

Galerie pompom, cheerfully decorated with neon signage in its front on Abercrombie St, has been a staple gallery for both new and seasoned artists over its 10-year run.

In tandem with Galerie pompom, creators Ron and George Adams began an artist run initiative named Modes of Practice (MOP), a launching place for emerging artists. MOP allowed local artists to display their work in the commercial gallery and gain support through the beginning of their careers.

FINAL EXHIBITION

Galerie pompom’s final exhibition displays the spirit of the gallery’s commitment to the arts.

The exhibit includes artist Diana Firulovic’s subtle and monochromatic artwork in The White Square, which as described by pompom “pulses with a quiet, luminous force.” Also featured in the final exhibition is artist Anna Madeleine Raupach who explores climate issues through a series of artworks titled Slow Violence, which consists of maps of Australian bushfire affected land embroidered onto emergency thermal blankets.

The Gallery will shut following its final exhibition which closes on April 10.

Galerie pompom, 2/27-39 Abercrombie St, Chippendale.
