Lin-Manuel Miranda’s smash hit Broadway musical, Hamilton, is set to reopen at the Lyric Theatre on October 19.

After opening in March the show proved to be incredibly popular, which led to an extension of the season. However, with the introduction of stay-at-home orders in June all scheduled performances between June 25 and October 17 were cancelled, with ticket holders receiving refunds.

With today’s announcement it is hoped that Hamilton’s stay in Sydney will be extended until February 27. The show will then relocate to Her Majesty’s Theatre in Melbourne, with shows there commencing in March 2022.

As yet the details of the COVIDsafe plans are yet to be finalised for Hamilton’s return to the Lyric Theatre, full details will be released in due time. Much like Come From Away, which announced a return to the Capitol Theatre stage earlier this week, it’s likely that capacity will be capped at 75% with patrons being required to show full COVID-19 vaccination status.
