The Food Club

Three old friends in their later years take a trip to Puglia Italy on an Italian cooking course. The women have been friends since childhood and have kept in touch through the gauntlet of marriages, children, home ownership and divorce. Their lives have been full, varied and enveloped in family and commitment. Now, however, it is time to celebrate themselves only and what better way to celebrate the rediscovery of self worth, than to share a zest for living through the love of delicious food.

From the moment they reach their farmhouse accommodation in Puglia and meet their host, Chef Alessandro, who is equally as delicious as the food he prepares, the layers begin to peel away. An immensely moving film directed by Barbara Topsoe Rothenborg. The cinematography by Mattias Troelstrupp makes this film a feast for the eyes and the heart as well as for the palette. The scenery is mouthwatering and the three leading ladies have, class, style, warmth and humour, proving that the stigma of old age is often dished out by society and is not a one shoe fits all scenario. Also that love is love at any age.
