The Kweens Of Comedy

Comedian and community leader AJ Lamarque has launched The Kweens Of Comedy show, boasting a line-up of Sydney’s best rising comedians and giving a platform to talented performers who have been out of work due to COVID-19.

The three-part season includes new sketches, stories, and skits with over 20 local comedians, writers, and creatives including Concetta Caristo from Pedestrian TV and ABC’s Home Alone, Jacqui Duncan from The Shaq and Giggle And Hoot, and Fady Kassab who was the RAW Comedy winner of 2019 to name a few.

AJ Lamarque is an up and coming queer, mixed race comedian and producer with a focus on creating positive and welcoming communities and supporting emerging artists. Lamarque was a 2019 NSW RAW Comedy state finalist and a finalist in the Young Achiever category of the Honour Awards.

Speaking on the aim of the show, Lamarque said, “This show has been the start of changing that for rising talent, and hopefully, will allow for a much-needed diversification of the scene.

The comedy industry is one of the least supported art forms and the pandemic has highlighted the few structures there are to nurture and develop emerging artists.

The series is free, however virtual tickets can be purchased, with proceeds supporting the production of future seasons. It will stream live on YouTube, starting on September 17.
