Finding Joy

Finding Joy

From Ireland comes this hilarious six-episode comedy about Joy Morris, a single young lady who is finding it difficult to navigate through life. A lonely, out of love and self-confessed emotionless oddity, her life takes another turn when she is coerced to abandon her copy editor’s job and step in-front of the cameras as a journalist for a weekly lifestyle segment on the news.

Each episode surrounds her filming assignments which include dating, happiness and relationships. Along the way Joy experiences a rollercoaster of emotions and  comes to the realisation that as her strange but likeable flatmate explained, “life is like a bikini wax – you can’t have happiness without pain.”

Audiences who were enchanted by Ricky Gervais’ British black comedy drama Afterlife will fall in love with Finding Joy, owing to the quirky script and zany characters who provide much of the hilarity.

Award winning Irish actress Amy Huberman, who also created and wrote the show, is a delight as the awkward and insecure Joy who dreams of a neatly packaged life and reimagines the boundaries for her life and job.

An alluring aspect of the show for animal lovers is Aiden, Joy’s cuddly but vivacious pet terrier mix, who will have audiences laughing senselessly at the beginning and end of each episode. Bring on season 2! (MMo)
