Shrek – The Musical

This January at Sydney’s Lyric Theatre a star-studded cast featuring Todd McKenney, Ben Mingay, Marcia Hines and Lucy Durack will take the stage for the huge Sydney season of Shrek – The Musical.

Todd McKenney will step into the role of the hilarious Lord Farquaad, Ben Mingay will take the stage as loveable ogre Shrek, Marcia Hines will bring the fire as Dragon and Lucy Durack is over the moon to be playing Princess Fiona. Shrek – The Musical is set to start the year off bringing wholesome fun for the whole family.

Lucy Durack says rehearsing as Princess Fiona with the cast has been an unforgettable experience, saying: “Rehearsals have been so much fun! Marcia sounds incredible and The Dragon is amazing and Todd is hilarious and I think that we could not find a better Shrek than Ben Mingay, I think anywhere in the world.  The ensemble are also incredible!”

Lucy believes the cast was picked especially for the production.

“It’s a show with a lot of heart and I think they’ve cast people with a lot of heart and that’s what it feels like anyway in the rehearsals.”

Shrek – The Musical will follow the adventure and fun of the film with Lucy saying, “the show is a wonderful story and it’s a beautiful message of being inclusive and not judging a book by its cover. It’s a lovely show of celebrating the fact that what makes you different makes you special.”

Lucy is excited for Sydney audiences to experience the magic of the show, saying: “I hope that the audience comes out uplifted. The last couple of numbers are really fun and I think we’ll make everybody just feel really good about themselves. We have a big old dance and celebrate at the end.”
