Sydney Opera House
The building-sized cluster of sea shells at the end of Bennelong Point is arguably the most recognised Australian icon and one of the most architecturally distinguished structures in the world. And it gives as much in function as it does in form. With two large auditoriums, three small to medium theatres and several other spaces that can be improvised as venues – including the outside forecourt – the SOH is able to offer a varied entertainment program and different audience experiences. Over the years, the SOH stages have hosted premium global acts in every field of performance: comedy, circus, musical theatre, Shakespeare, cabaret, opera, classical music, ballet, pop, illusion – pretty much every genre you can think of. And some you might never have thought of.
