The Casula Powerhouse is a cultural gem in South West Sydney. Their highly regarded Bellbird Restaurant is run by two hatted chefs who source most of their vegetables from an onsite garden. The six galleries have a constantly rotating program of exhibitions and feature local and international artists, emerging and advanced. A recently completed 3.5 million dollar playground and two off-leash dog parks provide some outdoors recreation, while indoors, the multi disciplinary arts centre hosts live music, theatre, and performance art. There have been some quirky, progressive shows in the 320 seat state of the art theatre, with appeal ranging across the demographic spectrum. All this is complimented by an extensive education and workshop program catering for all ages and abilities. It’s worth the trip.
