Sleaford Mods – Self Titled EP

Since appearing on the UKs Top 15 albums last year with English Tapas, Sleaford Mods are releasing some new music with a five track self-titled EP.

Since 2012, vocalist Jason Williamson and musician Andrew Fearn have been performing their minimalist and abrasive music style, featuring songs about working class life and culture.

With a thick British East Midlands accent, the album rings true of authentic English punk. Williams says about the new songs “anger and frustration morphs into illusions of attacking each other through bravado of social media, depression and paranoia.”

Leading with Stick In A Five And Go, a sneaky bass bopper with great lyrics the EP keeps the beat with Bang Someone Out and Gallows Hills.

Dregs rocks a sweet deep bass riff and was my pick of the album. Finishing with Joke Shop, another wild song rocking an old school underground hip hop feel, gives the EP a memorable ending.
