REVIEW: Lil Dicky

REVIEW: Lil Dicky

On Freaky Friday the 13th Lil Dicky took to the stage in Australia for the first time ever. Having waited long enough for the rapper’s first tour Down Under, a horde of hyped up Lil Dicky fans infused Sydney’s Hordern Pavilion with an electrifying energy.

If nothing else, Lil Dicky’s show was pure entertainment. True to his comedic style, the show was full of antics that only Lil Dicky could pull off, such as randomly selecting audience members between songs to compete for his affection in a gameshow-like fashion — complete with a giant wheel of activities, including slapping him in the face.

Spotlighting the rapper’s most popular songs like Freaky Friday, Save Dat Money and Pillow Talking, the performance was perfect for dedicated Lil Dicky followers and lesser fans alike. The charged atmosphere made it impossible not to get swept up in the buzz of the crowd, chanting things like “Shooey” throughout the night.

Somehow, Lil Dicky has found a way to embrace his awkwardness, showcase his inability to dance, and rapping incredibly well. This unique blend makes him amusing, engaging and relatable, resulting in a downright unforgettable concert.
