Freedman Jazz: The finals of the Freedman Jazz Fellowship are always a memorable night and one charged with a real sense of excitement when the three Freedman Jazz finalists compete in a live “play off” performance. This year’s contenders for the annual award are trumpeter Nick Garbett, trumpeter, composer Ellen Kirkwood and pianist, songwriter Emma Stephenson. All three have forged strong careers as both composers and outstanding instrumentalists.
