The Dark Tower

The Dark Tower

If you are a die-hard fan of Stephen King books, you may want to reconsider your expectations. But let’s just not strike The Dark Tower as a lost cause, not just yet, because if you are looking at getting immersed in a Stephen King world, go straight to the movies, and dive right in the magic of The Dark Tower. It’s an alternate universe that needs to be experienced.

It’s not that The Dark Tower is a bad movie; it’s just that there was so much potential, that seems to have been wasted. And just when you think it’s not that great, the charismatic ‘Gunslinger’ (Idris Elba) and the cunning ‘Man in Black’ (Matthew McConaughey) save the day with there onscreen rivalry. Idris Elba is a treat to watch, and McConaughey slays it as the devil.

It starts off without a whimper, kind of drags on for a bit, but then eventually picks up pace. It’s takes a certain kind of cinematic taste to like this one. But if you feel it, it claws at your senses, begging to like it, almost nudges you to smile as the gunslinger’s gun blazes a glorious round of justice.
