Larissa Tandy – The Grip

This album is clear, chill, low key mental clarity.

Larissa Tandy’s lyrics are descriptive but despite the subject matter, her delivery is not agitated. She rolls and rises through the music like ripples in a lake, a small feature that spreads out over the surface, introducing texture and running its natural course.

Her tone fits in the ear with a relaxed attitude, moulding around the ear drum, speaking thoughts through it while rippling gently inwards and rolling away without leaving a mark.

The pattern is subtle but strong, holding all of the components fast in its current. So constant and soothing, it is difficult for listeners not to fall right into water, swimming out to the middle and treading water for the duration of the album. Enveloped in the slight drift that will eventually bring them back to shore.
