Australian fans of Adventure Time are invited to explore the “Land Of Ooo” as Adventure Time LIVE, an immersive audio-visual celebration, heads down under this weekend with a special stop in Sydney.

Gathering fans of every age bracket and diaspora imaginable since premiering in 2010, the Cartoon Network animated series revolves around the adventures of Finn the Human and Jake the (shape-shifting) Dog in a post-apocalyptic world where magic resides.

Jeremy Shada, the voice of Finn, caught up with the City Hub ahead of hitting the stage with his fellow cast mates including John DiMaggio (Jake), Hynden Walch (Princess Bubblegum) and Olivia Olson (Marceline the Vampire Queen).

Shada attributes the success of the show to two main factors: the art scheme (“[the Land of Ooo is] very bright and vibrant, so that kind of draws you in, it makes it very enjoyable to watch”), and the narrative (“the writing, the story and the characters are all very fleshed out”).

Fitting with the sheer variety of its fans, Adventure Time LIVE won’t be your average Disney On Ice-type spectacle. Shada said audiences can expect meet and greets, live readings and Q&A sessions in addition to live music, art galleries, cosplay competitions and a recently announced world exclusive new episode premiere. He even hinted at a potential collaboration between himself and fellow cast musician Olson (Marceline).

Adventure Time LIVE will also be a farewell tour of sorts with the show scheduled to wrap up at the conclusion of the next season, which will be its ninth. So c’mon, grab your friends. To quote Lemongrab, missing this chance would be absolutely “UNACCEPTABLE!” (AM)
