Amarillo – Eyes Still Fixed

As I sit in my office abroad looking out over sweeping farm land for the long weekend, Amarillo’s latest offering playing away in the background makes for the perfect soundtrack to a relaxed and blissful getaway.

The alt-country four-piece from Melbourne do a wonderful job of capturing the beauty of our fine country and portraying that in song, whether it’s through the subtle instrumentation and acoustic soundscape arrangements or the soft, enchanting vocal work.

Standout tracks are ‘Lemonade’, which highlights the laid-back sound of the band, and ‘Look At You Baby’, which then contrasts that laid-back style with a more energetic pop vibe. (JA)
