Circus – Wendy Sharpe

Circus – Wendy Sharpe

Wendy Sharpe has not only made her name as a phenomenal artist, she is known as a pioneer, an expert in her field, a master of her craft.

She is also considered amongst many as an incredibly lucky lady, as Wendy gets to spend her days creating magic within one of the worlds most spine tingling, heart stopping and truly captivating experiences known to man kind – she captures the relentless energy, those jaw dropping moments and the butterfly breeding atmosphere created by a child’s first ever experience of the circus.

Wendy has been drawing, painting and taking photographs of the historically significant Cirque d’Hiver and Circus Oz her whole career; whether she is sketching during a warm up session, painting back stage in the ‘green room tent’, or photographing performers in costume at her Sydney based studio.

Wendy promises to deliver a collection of artworks with each and every picture focused on portraying the different aspects and feelings associated with the circus. (The human-only circus may I add, for those of you who also disagree with the enslavement of animals.) (BS)

Until Oct 8 (10am-6pm, Tue–Sat. Sun + Mon by appointment only). King Street Gallery, 177 William St, Darlinghurst. Info: www.kingstreetgallery.com.au
