Hats Off! For Harmony

Hats Off! For Harmony

Hats Off! Is back for its 19th year for a night of spectacular entertainment – and most importantly, to raise money and awareness for the fight against HIV/AIDS.

Hats Off! Was created in 1997 by Oz Showbiz Cares and Equity Fight AIDS, with many of this group of musical theatre performers directly affected by HIV/AIDS. During the 90’s a number of people in the entertainment community had been diagnosed with HIV and unfortunately passed away.

Hats Off! Producer Bali Padda said this showcase of entertainment became an opportunity to raise money for this issue that affects them so dearly.

“It is a charity benefit concert where members of the performing arts community come together to put on a fabulous show to raise awareness and funds for ACON and the Bobby Goldsmith Foundation,” he said.

“During the last 19 years millions of dollars have been raised and thousands of people have taken part in OSC/EFA activities.”

The night will be hosted by Tom Sharah and Gillian Cosgriff with performances by Queenie van de Zandt, Amy Lehpamer, Phil Scott, Michael Cormick, Monique Montez, Andy Dexterity and the casts of The Sound of Music and Heathers plus many more acts. Edward Grey will be director with musical direction by Anne-Maree McDonald.

Padda said they raised $45,000 last year and hopes to raise even more in 2016.

“Ticket sales are our biggest fundraiser, but we also sell raffle tickets on the night for an exceptional selection of donated prizes,” he added. (AMal)
