DAVID STRATTON’S GREAT BRITAIN RETRO FILM FESTIVAL

DAVID STRATTON’S GREAT BRITAIN RETRO FILM FESTIVAL

David Stratton’s Great Britain Retro Film Festival has arrived, and lovers of fine cinema should be delighted with the program of 19 classic British films which have been selected to screen in the digital format.

Most of these films haven’t screened in cinemas for decades and movie-goers will have the opportunity to revisit these classics on the big screen for optimum enjoyment.

As the patron of this festival David Stratton, the legendary Australian film critic and television personality (At The Movies) who lived in Britain for many years and ultimately developed a love for British cinema, has selected a wide range of films which should appeal to a wide audience.

Highlights include: Charles Dickens Great Expectations (1946), the classic tale of a humble orphan who matures into a gentleman, Lawrence Of Arabia (1962) which follows a brilliant and controversial British military figure during wartime, and 2001: A Space Odyssey (1968) the epic science fiction film produced and directed by Stanley Kubrick.

Five classic Michael Powell/Emeric Pressburger titles will be presented in restored digital formats including The Tales Of Hoffman (1951), a fantasy opera/ballet, sumptuous and rich in colour with six extra minutes of never-before-seen footage, and Peeping Tom (1960) an obsessive thriller about a serial killer which has earned a cult following.
