The Soldier’s Wife

The Soldier’s Wife

This Friday (Aug 7), the Sydney Opera House will be the host to a special evening, The Soldier’s Wife – a night of stories of women affected by their loved ones at war through song.

It begun in 2014 when creator Deb Suckling was inspired by her next-door neighbour whose husband served in WWII. She realised not many people have explored this sensitive and relevant theme, and decided to delve deeper.

“It would be really nice to explore the stories of the military wife. Because it’s not something that’s commonly out there or heard,” said Suckling.

Deb is director of boutique record label, SugarRush, so the project became the perfect opportunity to use the artists and musicians from the label to assist her.

Along with artists from the label there will be some special guests including two children, Lily and Jack, performing for their father who has served in Afghanistan and has now returned home to watch them perform their song – ‘Our Daddy is Bulletproof’.

All proceedings from the night will go towards Legacy and the Partners of the Veterans Association of Australia.
