THE GUNMAN

From the director of Taken comes this action-packed thriller in which the leading man is the stereotyped 50-something action hero, with an amazing physique who beds much younger women.

Martin Terrier (Sean Penn) is a sniper who kills the minister of mines of the Congo, Africa. Upon returning to Congo a few years later, an attempt is made on his life by a hit squad and he travels to London and Barcelona for answers.

This excessively violent film is tarnished by intricate storylines and the odd casting of actress Jasmine Trinca as Penn’s much younger love interest.

Entertaining escapism, but ultimately we’ve seen it all before. (MMo)
