Growing up in a musical family with their own touring band, Rowena Wise was immersed in music from an early age. As she grew and blossomed into a talented musician, Rowena eventually broke free from the band and embarked on her own solo career. The path she has taken all culminates in the coming weeks as she tours the country debuting her first ever EP.

“When your parents give birth to their own band you don’t really have a choice but to be immersed in music. Being brought up in this environment led me to want to contribute to the growing folk music scene because I feel it needs more young blood coming into it,” said Rowena.

She has developed her own unique twist on the folk genre often taking influence from other Australian bands and pop music, “Pop is great because it’s easy to listen to and is really feel good music that people can relate to so combining that with folk has always been my ideal,” Rowena said.

With this take on the genre in mind Heartstop Music signed up the young talent and teamed her up with producer Nick Huggins for the debut EP Words. “The recording process was really really fun, Nick was great to work with. I went in really focused but also open to change and anything that may come along the way which meant it wasn’t stressful at all.”

To help support the EP’s release Wise undertook an crowd funding Pozible campaign to help with promotion. “The campaign was largely to get people involved and let the extended folk music family know about my music and be able to support it. I think my music deserves a place out there in the world and Possible was a great launching pad.”

For the upcoming show in Sydney Rowena will be joining up with Jordie Lane for a special run of shows. “I’m really excited to be playing with him because he has such great musicianship and fans that want to go along just to listen to beautiful songs and that’s the kind of audience I hope to have as well.” said Wise.

Fans heading out to the show can expect to experience a true celebration of years of hard work as they see an extremely talented musician coming into her own and showing off her songs as she reaches out to the people.
