If Alice and the Mad Hatter went for a drink, this would be where they’d go. Hidden away on Bourke Street, a few minutes walk from the heart of The Cross is Peekaboo Bar, an eclectic new small bar that makes a mean cocktail. I loved the edgy mix of Boops Ride ($18) – a mix of Hennessey, Cointreau, lemon and fresh watermelon juice served up martini style. But it was the Cheshire ($17) that had me grinning from ear to ear – Gin, Aperol and honey water capped with an icey mint and grapefruit granita. Strong, refreshing and so good I had two. Soak up the cocktails with some chicken, pork or veggie soft tacos ($5 each), the chermoula prawn, pomegranate and couscous salad ($14) or just settle for a simple but tasty charcuterie board ($25). If you’re looking for a rabbit hole to fall down, this is it.
