In a move that will put the holy back into your next bagel, luxury hotel InterContinental Double Bay recently launched a separate kosher kitchen and in-house catering. The hotel, which opened last November, has collaborated with kosher chefs, suppliers and the local community to deliver a unique menu headed by Executive Chef Julien Pouteau. With modern offerings like sushi, teriyaki salmon and rare roast beef burgers, plus kosher wines, beers, spirits and house-made cocktails, the hotel will cater everything from weddings to conferences to bar mitzvahs. Having just received certification by the Kashrut Authority – the longest continuously operating kosher organisation in Australia –there are many more things to come, with hotel management hinting that guests will be treated to kosher room service in the coming months.
