Faces of the young and old, famous and infamous, star at the Museum of Contemporary Art this summer as the works of Chuck Close invade the gallery.

Close, who has been working since the 1960s, is best known as a creator of hyper-realist portraits. His meticulous technique and use of various media combine to produce pictures which conceal and reveal the multifaceted character of their subjects.

The show includes huge towers of canvas which feature pixelated colour and black and white impressions of the human visage. They are intricate combinations of prints, photographs, acquaints and etchings which delicately sketch the harshness and fragility of life.

Prints, Processes and Collaboration features art from all eras of Close’s career, including masterpieces such as Keith (1972), Bob (1969-70) and John (1998). This exhibition will be a showcase of the diversity and talent of a master artist and a visual treat for visitors. (LR)
