Twilight outdoors, taken with a refreshing Pimms Cup laden with ginger ale, mint and an apple garnish, skewered with quality, and decorated with a yellow, wooden heart. Cocktails (all $16) are mostly the classics. This place is a little conservative, old-fashioned even – despite there being a Porn Star Martini on the list.  A wine bar though, is all about the wine – right? Here, again, the list is conservative – though there’s nothing wrong with that – and international. I choose a rosé: Whispering Angel. The sommelier guides me towards the NV Château d’Esclans Rosé (new to the list) but can’t serve it to me yet, not for another five or six minutes until it comes to ‘correct’ temperature. In the meantime he offers an Australian biodynamic rosé to tide us over, and I am pleased to see it’s one of my favourites: Krinklewood.
