New Empire – In A Breath

In a Breath is Sydney quartet New Empire’s latest pop-rock offering. The band’s sophomore album is filled with soaring melodies and big, lush sounds.

The title track opens with tinkling keys and gorgeous vocals. Vocalist Jeremy Fowler has been blessed with one of those voices that are inarguably pleasant in most situations and will get you into the Top 10 on Australian Idol.

Wise Fox features meandering keys and builds into a triumphant swell – something that has become characteristic of this album.

In a Breath offers slick production and some big, big choruses. It’s nothing revolutionary, but the Sydney lads have produced something honest and unabashedly youthful. (SY)
