Boy – Darkest Visions

Czech punk band Boy come out of the gates strong with their album Darkest Visions.

The album opens with the title track and quickly makes it clear that the band has been heavily influenced by the English punk bands of the 1970s. By combining samples from 9/11 news reports with a very catchy guitar riff and drum line, Boy create a haunting intro which sets the tone for the remainder of the album.

The album is a great combination of aggressive instrumentals with catchy well-written lyrics, particularly final track Just A Number.

Indicative of producer Tommy Akerholt’s (of Turbonegro fame) influence. (JA)
