VOICES OF ANGELS

VOICES OF ANGELS

The angelic voices of the Sydney Children’s Choir and Gondwana Voices – 250 of them – are appearing in a concert for the festive season featuring some favourites and something out of the ordinary.

Both are widely acknowledged, Sydney Children’s Choir (founded 1989) tour extensively and aim for a distinctive Australian choral sound while Gondwana (founded 1997) were the first Australian children’s choir to perform at the BBC Proms (2007).

Lyn Williams is founder of both choirs and an acclaimed choral and orchestral conductor of many years’ experience. This year she led the choirs on separate UK/European tours which included performances at Westminster Abbey and St Paul’s Cathedral.

Lyn promises variety in a concert which features traditional Christmas carols and music of John Rutter. For Caccini’s Ave Maria the Goldner String Quartet will form part of the orchestra and the Goldners will also perform the last two movements from Dvoràk’s American Quartet.

People often tell Williams that “once they’ve heard the Angels sing, Christmas has really started”. (MM)
