Housexy: Their CD is a magnet to any ambitious DJ, so expect only the best of the best. Jack McCord heads up this Boxing Day smash at the Golden Mile’s only non-typical bar. Being one of Australia’s most successful exports as the manager for house music label Hed Kandi, McCord displays only the best beats to rock this dance floor to its core. Joining Mr McCord will be fellow Aussie house-master DJ Alex Taylor, as well as sets from acts including Venuto, Tom Kelly and percussion from Chris Bongoliro.

Thu, Dec 26th, Goldfish, Kings Cross.

Tina Harrod: One of Sydney’s most unique jazz soloists, Tina has had a cracker of a year. Releasing her latest album The Revolution is Eternal, Harrod solidified herself as a versatile and powerful vocalist with co-writer and bassist Jonathan Zwartz and LA-based pianist Larry Goldings. Harrod herself has a variety that knows no boundaries, recording jazz-infused reincarnations of songs on her acclaimed album Worksongs and also using her talent to create original tunes on her 2010 effort Temporary People.

Fri, Dec 27th, Foundry616, Ultimo.

De La Soul: The hip hop legends are finally returning! They had a stellar twentieth anniversary tour four years ago, which allowed fans both new and old to fall in love with them. Their 1989 release 3 Feet High and Rising was hailed as being “the future of hip hop” upon it’s release. This trio will be pulling out all of the greats from this legendary release as well as De La Soul is Dead. With a longevity such as theirs, it deserves nothing but the utmost respect.

Sat, Dec 28th, Metro Theatre, George St.

Floating Points: An event shrouded in mystery, it adds another level of anticipation to this British boy’s bass-laden gig. In an undisclosed courtyard somewhere between Sydney’s monolithic buildings, Sam Shepherd will be spinning his own kind of musical deliciousness; whether it be house, dubstep, techno, classical or jazz. He harbours an impeccable taste that will have something for everyone. Keep tuned to Shepherd’s Facebook page for the location announcement.

Sun, Dec 29th, Secret CBD Courtyard, Sydney.

Renee Geyer: Jazz, blues and soul are where she feels most at home, so with a show on the second last day of the year, you can expect only the best from Ms. Geyer. She has worked alongside musical royalty such as Stevie Wonder, Joe Cocker, Chaka Kahn, and our own legend Paul Kelly and Geyer has had a plethora of musical inspiration to guide her through her prestigious career. With an induction into the ARIA Hall of Fame as well as a gold album Tenderland, this talented lady will be showcasing her iconic sound to an intimate venue on our most famous harbour.

Mon, Dec 30th, The Basement, Circular Quay.
