Joey Bada$$: Supported by Remi and The Underachievers, this Brooklyn rapper’s following has been actively bubbling away since June last year. Thanks to his debut mixtape 1999 sending the Internet into a frenzy, his advanced flow and witty lyricism have become highly appreciated. He has also been hailed as being “beyond his years”. He manages to bridge the gap between new and old-school rap, something which many artists of present have struggled with.

Catherine Traicos & The Starry Night: Sydney-based with a penchant for folk themes and bluesy sounds, Catherine Traicos and her outfit will be enveloping the room with her enchanting sounds. They recently released their latest album The Earth, The Sea, The Moon, The Sky and this lady has been complimented as possessing one of the most beautiful voices in contemporary music. Their guest on the night will be Lo Carmen.

Fri, Dec 13th, Petersham Bowls Club

DJ Jazzy Jeff: It’s hard to believe that after two completely exhausted ticket releases, there are still some tickets left for this legendary DJ’s Sydney set. Since those feel-good Fresh Prince of Bel-Air days with the legendary Will Smith, DJ Jazzy Jeff has had a stellar career on his own. After founding his production company, A Touch of Jazz, plus multiple solo albums and a host of star-studded collaborations, this Philadelphia native will be sure to rock the Ivy to its pool pump room. TICK TICK TICK TICK, BOOM!

Sat, Dec 14th, Ivy Pool Club

James Muller Trio: He is of the first names mentioned when discussing world class jazz musicians and James Muller has an abundance of notches in his ever growing musical belt. Two Mo awards, an APRA award and the 2004 Freedman Fellowship have all had his name stamped on them, making him one of the most sought-after guitarists and composers that this country has produced in years.

Sun,Dec 15th, Venue505

Mac DeMarco: Overwhelming demand has seen this gig moving from Goodgod Small Club to an Oxford Street venue, which says a lot for this rocker. Record label Captured Tracks has been at the forefront of this musician’s cause, releasing his records Rock and Roll Night Club and 2 to rave reviews. Described as “Elvis-gone-bad” audiences can catch the infectious sounds of DeMarco at Oxford Art Factory.

Tues, Dec 17th, Oxford Art Factory

Intrionsic: Emerging from the shadow of jazzy gents Sean Coffin Trio, this is a relatively new project that will showcase original compositions from Coffin himself. For over twenty years Coffin has been an esteemed member of the Sydney jazz community, not only as a performer, but also as a valuable educator for new talent. With Karl Dunnicliff on double bass and Nic Cecire on drums, this night will provide tunes with a sincere swing and effective groove that can only come from a talented saxophonist such as Sean Coffin.
