FLICKERFEST 2014

FLICKERFEST 2014

The Flickerfest 23rd International Short Film Festival returns to iconic Bondi Beach this summer, recognising excellence in short films and showcasing 100 of the best selected from over 2000 submissions. This is one of only 54 short film festivals in the world accredited by the Academy and is also recognised by the British Academy of Film and Television Arts.

The trailer, screening virally to spread awareness of the 2014 festival, is an ingenious comic parody themed around The Blues Brothers and aptly filmed on Bondi Beach.

International and Australian short films as well as documentary and environmental shorts will be showcased in categories.

Oscar Favourites consists of the greatest Academy Award nominated shorts. Short Laughs and Flickerkids should entice younger viewers and music lovers will be delighted by what’s on offer in FlickerClip. Weird and Wacky is a category which is ridiculously entertaining.

Vote Yes is preselected for the festival and is the moving story of the bonding of two “very different women” during the 1967 Australian referendum on Aboriginal rights.

Flickerfest International Short Film Festival is a cinematic event not to be missed, screening at the first outdoor beachside cinema in Australia. (MM)
