CATHERINE TRAICOS AND THE STARRY NIGHT – THE EARTH, THE MOON, THE SEA, THE SKY
Melancholy and melodious, this is an atmospheric brand of indie-folk music.
First track lifts a chord change from Lonesome Town, sets you up for an album of jazz-inspired melodies with pensive rock sounds.
Unfortunately, the album is crying out for a change in speed or tone. It is sad and quiet. Every single song has a chime-type of sound on it, be it produced by lead guitar, rhythm guitar, keyboard or actual chimes.
Finally track ten delivers a fresh little pop-song that breaks a few of the rules, then the last track on the album gives you the classic grunge finale it’s been threatening all along. (LC)
