THE HUNGER GAMES: CATCHING FIRE
The onslaught of the worldwide box office has commenced with the highly-anticipated release of The Hunger Games: Catching Fire – the first sequel to 2012’s phenomenal hit.
The story continues as victors of the 74th Annual Hunger Games, Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) and Peeta Mellark (Josh Hutcherson), are coerced into a “victory tour” of the districts. They unwittingly become entrants in the 75th Annual Hunger Games battling previous winners.
Movie goers should be entranced by this respectable sequel. The fast-paced action sequences surpass those of the original and the addition of new tributes from other districts adds spice. The distracting ‘shaky cam’ style of filming has also been justifiably abandoned.
Credit must be given to The Hunger Games franchise for captivating a generation of readers and moviegoers alike. (MM)
