Glebe Street Fair is celebrating its 30th year with a fresh approach living by its theme ‘More Curious than Ever’.

Fairgoers will have an increased range of unique attractions to choose from while maintaining the fair’s distinct local flavour.

“The people who are coming to the fair are always curious about Glebe,” said Creative Director of Glebe Street Fair, Roselle Gowan.

“It’s a curious suburb – you’ve got the whole spectrum [here].

“They have this curiosity about what they will find at the Glebe Street Fair and it’s very much about mixing the craft, the unique and the new.”

Along the stretch of Glebe Point Rd there will be around 280 stalls, and the majority will be there for the first time.

“We have loads of new stalls,” said Ms Gowan. “I would tell you 70 to 80 per cent of stall holders have not been seen before.

“We’ve got people coming from Byron Bay, we’ve got a lot of fashion and there are always organic things.”

Simon Meli, a finalist from popular television show, The Voice, will appear on the St Johns Road stage with his soul rock band, The Widowbirds.

“Glebe is a unique place to its own in Sydney,” said Mr Meli. “It’s always been known as the artistic, the diverse and the colourful suburb.

“To get out there and play at the fair is a great thing. I also hope to catch some other local talent that’s been looming in the shadows of Glebe.”

The Craft Beer and Cider Expo will be held for the first time, hosted by the AB Hotel.

“It’s at Foley Park in a marquee,” said Ms Gowan. “They’re an hour and a half long sessions and you get to sample between 15 to 20 exhibits.”

The level of entertainment will ramp up this year with the addition of a third stage at Bridge Rd. There will be performances by Bridie King, Boogie Nights and Gang of Brothers, among a range of diverse acts.

Dr Charlie Teo, founder of the Cure for Life Foundation, will be opening the festival by leading the Scots College Old Boys Bagpipe Band.

The Glebe Street Fair will take place next week on Sunday, November 17.
