Dreams Are Just Movies is Sydney singer-songwriter, Rosie Catalano’s latest offering. Catalano says the eponymous track on her latest EP was actually inspired by nightmares.

“I wrote during a period when I was experiencing some pretty horrific nightmares.

“The song was borne out of this idea that we would sit at the end of our beds in the night and watch them projected above our heads as though they were movies.”

Just like her debut EP, Dreams Are Just Movies is a crowd-funded project. Catalano says the focus of her latest crowd-funded campaign was to build a community around her more than anything else.

“It’s a great way to involve people in your project, so rather then disappearing for a while and returning to the world with a completed work, you can take them on a journey with you.”

A brilliant storyteller, Catalano will be celebrating her release with a string of intimate shows around the country.

“I’m going to try something new for this tour though and am setting up my own one-man-band Mary Poppins style, with a guitar in my hands, a stomp box and a tambourine. I briefly considered some cymbals between my knees too.” (SY)
