With Australian entertainer Nikki Webster’s dance students as the headlining act, the 27th Norton St Italian Festa is set to bring plenty of colour and energy to Sydney’s Little Italy this Sunday.

Nikki Webster’s Dancers will join a long list of talents to entertain the local community at the Festa, which attracts more than 100,000 locals and visitors.

Thirteen years on from her unforgettable performance at the Sydney Olympics, she is now an inner west local and the owner of popular Stanmore dance studio, Dance! at Nikki Webster.

Nikki told the Inner West Independent the Italian Festa is a day not to be missed and that her students have a fantastic performance planned for the local community.

“We’re a local dance studio and our local kids are going to come out and start the day off with a bang,” she said.

“The kids absolutely love the opportunity to perform at such an amazing event and it is great to be asked to come out so we can support our local community.

“It’s going to be a great day with beautiful weather and lots of other performances so I would really encourage everyone to come down.”

The packed schedule of performers at Leichhardt’s Pioneers Memorial Park also includes multilingual singer Sylvana, who sings in English, French, Italian and Spanish. She was recently awarded the Fiorino D’Oro for her representation of the Italian community in Australia.

On top of Sydney’s best performers, the Norton St Italian Festa offers some out of the ordinary entertainment with simulated Roman gladiatorial battles on display. Charlie Dalziel-Charlier, who has a degree in Medieval History will wow festival visitors with hand-to-hand fighting which evolved throughout Italy’s long history.

Norton St will be filled with the aromas of traditional Italian cooking from free and famous cooking demonstrations at the Marketplace Leichhardt Cooking Stage. There will be hundreds of Italian cars to dream about driving at the Auto Festa; strolling musicians; and street markets offering a wide variety of classic and seasonal Italian products.

The Norton Street Italian Festa takes place on Sunday, October 27.
