Tony Sheldon, fresh from his huge success on Broadway and the West End in Priscilla Queen of the Desert, heads a stellar cast in this tale of conmen, their marks and the French Riviera. Suave scammer Lawrence Jameson (Sheldon) makes a wager with small-time hustler, Freddy Benson (Matt Hetherington) as to who is the best.

Veteran of the small screen, John Wood (Blue Heelers) plays Andre the police chief and also chief facilitator of scams.

“The idea of playing a corrupt cop for a change is a nice little irony,” says Wood.

Along the way Andre falls in love with Muriel played by theatre favourite, Anne Wood – no relation of course.

“I play Muriel Eubanks from Omaha Nebraska,” she drawls, “who has just broken up with her husband having found him with a dental hygienist half her age.”

Both Woods agree, “It’s a wonderful piece – fun, fast and whacky. You’ll see some of the masters of musical comedy doing what they do best.”

“If audiences laugh the way I think they are going to,” adds Mr Wood, “it will be a smash hit.”

Big production numbers, laughs aplenty – and for the audience, their very own sting in the tale. (GW)
