Why did it take Hollywood so long to bring back the basic formula that makes an action movie a classic? – Keep it simple.

White House Down tells the story of macho Capitol Policeman John Cale (Channing Tatum). Cale takes his estranged daughter Emily (Joey King) to a White House tour, where he is also interviewing to be part of the Secret Service protecting President Sawyer (Jamie Foxx).

While he fails his interview, Cale ends up proving his skills when he becomes the only man standing between the President and a group of ruthless mercenaries.

White House Down is what every action movie should be: straight-forward, without too many twists and turns, and with some hilariously quirky one-liners. It’s a must watch for any action-thriller fan. (JR)
