THE CATASTROPHISTS

THE CATASTROPHISTS

The Catastrophists is a show written by the founder of The Basement Productions, Jordan King-Lacroix and co-produced by Naomi Hibberd. King-Lacroix’s aim is to put on great productions where the profit will go right back into the arts industry through his cast and crew.

The Catastophists is an all original collaboration of contemporary dance, live music and theatre. It is a show for everyone who’s ever been a victim of their own mind,” explains King-Lacroix.

Catastrophising. We’ve all done it. Sat there, sweating, making the worst of a bad situation. Whether, like [character] Trevor, you’ve left numerous, embarrassing phone messages on your prospective girlfriend’s answering machine. Or, maybe you haven’t garnered the nerve to talk to the girl you like, like [characters] Jack and Rachel but when you do, it turns out much, much worse than you’d ever imagined. Or simply, you’ve lost the lust for your job and need to seek the help of someone like Dr. Nigel Rosenbaum.

Playing as part of the Sydney Fringe Festival, The Catastrophists is an experimental satire that even the most optimistic audiences can relate to. (LK)
