SALINGER

SALINGER

Salinger is a feature-length documentary that looks into the curious and controversial life of the infamous Catcher in the Rye author J.D. Salinger.

The film covers everything from his childhood to a nervous breakdown and the post-traumatic stress caused by his time in WW2. It also suggests Salinger to be less of an unsociable recluse and more of a PR genius wishing only to be referenced to his work and never to engage in celebrity status.

This is ironic, considering the film tells us nothing of his writing style and everything about his personal life.

Although Salinger died in 2010, his Trust claim there are unpublished works due to be released within the next five to seven years, making this film a media advertisement in itself.

Still, it’s worth a watch if you are interested in this author. (LK)
