OCEAN PARTY – SPLIT
Surfer Rock has never been done a greater disservice.
Split takes a surfer sounding guitar and mixes it with a bedroom records style. The result will make eyeballs drop out of heads with boredom.
The lyrics are uninspired and run along the unvarying theme of being a spoilt hipster with a drug habit. Likewise there is no noticeable variation in the guitar. Just the same thing over and over in every song.
Unfortunately the production’s low budget has not been compensated for by clever mixing and charismatic performances. (LC)
