ELEVENTH HE REACHES LONDON – BĀNHŪS

After four years of writing and recording Perth outfit Eleventh He Reaches London deliver their most ambitious album to date. The aptly titled Bānhūs (an old English term meaning ‘bone house’) is a post-punk journey through gothic landscapes and existential themes.

Despite being only seven songs in length Bānhūs packs a punch right from the start. The Dragging Cloud is a moody nine-minute epic that traverses styles as it slowly grows while Body Unbind and No Funeral mark an introspective turn in the album.

Dynamic and well produced, what is most enjoyable about Bānhūs is a demoniacal tension that swells beneath the surface. (NH)
