The Lavazza Italian Film Festival has established itself as one of the more popular cultural occasions in Sydney and this year is no exception, with a fantastic line-up of Italian films that cater for all tastes.

The Great Beauty (La Grande Bellezza), a favourite at Cannes, opens the festival and in the following weeks 27 contemporary Italian films will be screened, most for the first time in Australia.

A Special Day – a romantic interlude about a couple who meet and fall in love on their first day at work is sure to allure viewers. A Perfect Family – a comedy about a man who creates his ideal family should be a charmer and The Lithium Conspiracy – a thriller in the John Grisham tradition is ideal for drama enthusiasts.

Classic Fellini’s Roma will suitably close the festival inspiring a widespread interest in Italian cinema. (MM)
