JOBS

The story of Apple and its genius entrepreneur and founder Steve Jobs is one widely circulated. This film follows Jobs’ rise from college drop-out to CEO.

Audiences may arrive at this film with strong doubts – it would be easy to create an over-sentimentalised glorification of the Apple company and casting Ashton Kutcher as Jobs seems a curious choice. Although still a cliched biopic Jobs challenges the presumptions. Kutcher nails Jobs in every way, right down to the walk and mannerisms.

Screenwriter Matt Whiteley crafts a gripping narrative, giving an honest portrayal of a very flawed man. Whiteley allows the audience the space to both invest in and dislike him. The audience sees a character whose greatness was also his downfall.

With a fantastic soundtrack and skilled cinematography this film is a pleasure. (ATS)
