You can expect unique, ground-breaking music from New York’s JACK Quartet when they hit Aussie shores. For example, the concert will be performed entirely in the dark.

“It is an experience that promises to elicit a range of responses from terrifying to ecstatic, hallucinatory to synaesthetic,” says JACK Quartet’s violinist and executive director John Pickford Richards.

One of the pieces performed will be a world premier by Sydney Chamber Opera director Jack Symonds along with new music by other leading contemporary composers.

The string quartet may be a 250 year old arrangement with connotations of music for a conservative society garden party. It is classical but the young and clever JACK Quartet are keeping it vital and reinventing their string instruments, whilst pushing the limits of innovation for music lovers who can expect a mind-blowing experience.

The darlings of New York’s new music scene, this young quartet appear to have the Midas touch, achieving success at every new innovation.

JACK Quartet have sold out performances at festivals and famous venues all over the world. A successful marriage between the classical and the avant-garde. (MS)
