WORLD PRESS PHOTO 2013

The camera as a weapon is the greatest tool of expressiveness in the battle for consumption of news media. Although cultural domination or “hegemony” affects the masses over a long term and in a multi-faceted way through institutions such as Faifax and the Murdoch empire, a single photograph can become an agent of democracy, cultural opposition, or bourgeois press.

World Press Photo 2013 the values of visual literacy, context and information should be pedagogy for all.

For the audience the meaning of a photograph may also produce its own meaning.

The meaning of photojournalism without words is frequently, if not always, ambiguous.  We add captions, we interpret with slogans, we juxtapose words and images.  We use the written language with which we interpret in our mind, or out loud, the meaning of the image.

There are some exemplary representations in this exhibition, encounters that have occurred through the art of technical competence and frameworks by masters. (AS)
