THE DIVINE MISS BETTE

THE DIVINE MISS BETTE

Sydney cabaret sensation Catherine Alcorn has been enchanting audiences for two years with her tribute to the “People’s Diva” in The Divine Miss Bette and is thrilled to be bringing the show to the area she grew up in.

Alcorn was trained by Steve Ostrow, the man who discovered Bette Midler. “I didn’t realize at the time, but he lived around the corner from me,” she explains.

Audiences will be mesmerised as Alcorn sings all the hits including Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy, Wind Beneath My Wings and The Rose. She interacts with audiences, delivering a delightfully naughty style of humour which is paramount to playing Midler on stage.

“I put my own spin into the show and it’s all improvised. What I admire in Bette is her quick wit and that’s something I have learnt while performing this show,” says Alcorn.

“Bette has had an incredible career. You can’t define her style of music as she covers every spectrum. This appealed to me because as a performer I could highlight my musical range.”

The Divine Miss Bette is uplifting, energetic, glitzy, outrageous and nostalgic and promises to be a “Bloody Bawdy Good Time”. (MM)
